Detailed specification about this career opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. The Third Judicial District seeks a Senior Court Clerk in Olmsted County (Rochester, MN).

This is advanced court clerical work in the Finance D! ivision in Olmsted County District Court. Work will involve responsibility for a specific area of court case processing or for performing a variety of advanced clerical functions and will require the application of independent judgment and the interpretation of policies and procedures based on training and knowledge gained through experience on the job. Advice and assistance will normally be provided as needed by Court Operations Supervisor or Court Administrator, but most functions will be performed with a minimum of checking or other supervision. Attention to detail, frequent contact with the outside agencies, public, litigants, and attorneys at the counter, in the courtroom and on the telephone.

Example of Duties:
Performs the full scope of varied court clerical work on the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS); reviews legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with rules; determines processing required and takes necessa! ry action in accordance with court rules and procedures; sends! notices to parties; may certify and/or authenticate documents.

The incumbent of this position will perform financial activities within the office. This includes, but is not limited to:
Calculating costs and amounts due for judgments, traffic and criminal cases
Receiving payments and fees and issuing receipts for monies received.
Identifying and processing irregular checks
Reconciling daily receipts and cash tills
Processing deposits
Distributing and disbursing payments
Applying bail/bond monies to proper accounts
Determining financial eligibility for public defenders
Accounts receivable duties
Accounts payable duties
Order supplies

Typical Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an approved high school or vocational school and experience as a court clerk or in the legal field preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Outlook and other computer software o! r demonstrated MNCIS proficiency.
  • Well organized, with attention to details while remaining on task with multiple interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to retain information when changing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently make appropriate decisions and process a variety of information to reach a reasonable decision.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents of varying type and complexity for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with rules
  • Demonstrated dependability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS
Experience and demonstrated proficiency in accounting duties in the workplace.
