Engineering Manager
Our clients strategic location allows them direct access, primarily via the Minnesota Pipe Line, to a variety of locally sourced and Canad! ian crude oils, as well as the ability to distribute their refined products throughout the mid-western United States. Their refinery produces a broad slate of refined products including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and asphalt, which are then marketed to resellers and consumers in the PADD II region.

Safety - no recordable injuries (personally or as a result of projects).
Ensure that project funding estimate input for all engineering disciplines are compiled and submitted correctly and timely with a high degree of accuracy.
Confirm design schedules and personnel are matched to meet or exceed desired project completion, cost, quality, and technical expectations.
Certify that designs and installations are in compliance with all codes, regulations, and industry standards and specifications.
Guarantee that technical content and quality of designs and installation meet requirements of project scopes.!
Lead engineering development and development of inte! rnal engineering resources.
Maintain keen focus on individual and team safety.
Capital Design:
Provide proactive engineering input to development of capital project scope, budget and schedule development as required.
Drive collaboration within the Engineering Team to ensure best utilization of resources and provide opportunity for all employees to work together outside of a single site focus.
Develop conceptual and front-end engineering designs for capital projects that will be outsourced for detailed design.
Ensure all design packages and solutions are within the scope of the capital project and are accurate, workable, economical, and in compliance with all pertinent standards, codes, and specifications.
Provide management of outsourced engineering staffing for projects. Assist with development of project execution plans and contractor selection.
Provide guidance and oversight of outsourced capital p! roject detailed design activities, special studies, etc. Monitor and review contractor activities and implement necessary corrective actions.
Provide technical advice to Operations and Maintenance personnel in order to assure a safe and accurate installation of project.
Ensure all installation issues, commissioning, start-up, and site training related to new designs and installations are properly addressed, documented and shared for lessons learned
Ensure best in class project documentation and design requirements documentation related to use of outsourced detailed design engineering.
Technical Service:
Provide reliable solutions to modify operating facilities to improve safety and/or reduce costs.
Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and regulations and research new developments in theory and application in various engineering field and deploy new technologies as appropriate on capital projects or in suppo! rt of technical problems.
Management:
Responsible f! or managing the operation and staffing of the engineering team
Help to recruit, manage, and develop/train engineering discipline personnel in the engineering organization.
"HOW CAN I BE CONSIDERED?"
15 years of experience in the Refining or Petrochemical Process Industry.
BS or MS in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
Registration as a Professional Engineer or certification in Project Management preferred
Significant experience in multi-discipline design of complex refining or petrochemical facilities with specific experience of coordinating and organizing detailed engineering
Ability to judge the quality of engineering and construction documents
Exhibit drive to execute engineering designs for absolute lowest cost
Highly familiar with applicable design and building codes with knowledge of how to apply across the United States through local, state and national jurisdictions.!
Thorough understanding of engineering productivity measurement
Excellent Computer skills -- Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Lotus Approach.
Significant experience in the application and utilization of engineering design tools used by both Owner organizations and Contractor organizations.
Independent self-starter with results-oriented focus.
Excellent team member skills with ability to work with all levels of the organization -- from needs of the laborer performing the work to the needs of reporting to the CEO.
Proven ability in problem solving and multi-tasking.
Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Experience with major E&C contractors.
