The Anoka County Property Records and Taxation ! Division has an immediate opening for a full-time Property Specialist who will process real estate documents, perform document research, property inquiry and cashiering in a one-stop service environment for property records, property taxes and real estate assessment . The position will assist and provide information to the public regarding the filing of documents and all facets of property records, property taxes and real estate assessment including processing various documents and payments . This position will also assist and provide information to the public regarding vital statistics including marriage license, marriage certificates, birth and death records.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
Assists and provides information to the general public, abstractors, realtors and attorneys by telephone, letter and in person regarding property taxes, property value, classification, special assessments, legal descriptions and recording of variou! s documents; Property Inquiry - navigates, researches and inte! rprets the property inquiry module of the property records and taxation database; Document Processing - performs scanning, indexing and verification of documents; Document Research - retrieves and researches documents using imaging system, microfiche and microfilm; Cashiering - relieves charges and posts property tax payments; Vital Statistics - assists and provides information regarding marriage license, marriage certificates, birth and death records; Assists with various divisional projects including mailings, research and information.
REQUIREMENTS:
Post-secondary training in real estate or related area; one year related experience (prefer public sector or real estate experience) or equivalent combination of education and experience; familiar with procedures for recording deeds, mortgages, and other related documents, property taxes and real estate assessments.
Knowledge of: Property descriptions, documents used to convey property title! and other real estate related instruments and forms; the laws and terminology related to property records, property taxes, and real estate assessment.
Ability to: Perform and understand business and basic math functions such as prorata, simple interest, ratios and fractions; perform alpha and numeric filing functions; deal with complex real estate issues and suggest or research avenues for resolution; deal effectively with the public in a variety of situations; operate office equipment such as copy machine, PC, scanner, calculator and fax; prioritize work.
Skill in: Word processing; spreadsheets; data entry; oral and written communication.
