Position Description
Provide legal counsel to Medtronic Corporate IT, Facilities and other shared services organizations (e.g. real estate, in! direct strategic sourcing) on a variety of issues and topics, including the following: data privacy; electronic security; commercial agreements; compliance; software licensing and IT infrastructure, platforms and services; cloud computing and software as a service; contingent labor and staffing services; telecommunication; supply agreements; supply chain imperatives; real estate, leases, relocations, facility maintenance, and construction; EHS; security; e-commerce and e-catalogs; subscriptions; market intelligence; product distribution and inventory management confidential disclosure; HR and training and development technology and platform needs; and dispute resolution.
Position Responsibilities
Advise and counsel business clients on legal issues.
Draft, review, revise and negotiate contracts, including global multi-million dollar, complex agreements for large scale enterprise solutions and technology platforms.
Identify and manage external legal resou! rces as required to provide high-quality legal services at rea! sonable costs.
Work collaboratively with another lawyer, paralegal and administrative staff to provide the legal counsel for the areas described above.
Collaborate with legal staff in multiple divisions to develop and implement common approaches and templates.
Partner with various functional groups to manage risk and negotiate agreements.
Utilize and develop tools and process to manage a high volume of contracts and a large and diverse stakeholder base.
Basic Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
JD from a nationally recognized law school
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of legal experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Licensed to Practice Law
Experience in negotiating and drafting contracts
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Analytical risk identification, evaluation and management experience
Experience working within a matrixed organization
Experience negotiating IT, softw! are and supply contracts
Work experience at a law firm and in-house
Strong academic credentials
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple projects, in diverse substantive areas, at the same time
Superior common sense and exceptional judgment
Integrity and strong ethical center
Exceptional advocacy in negotiating
Flexibility, adaptability, responsiveness and collegiality
Ability to perform in fast-paced environment.
Ability to accelerate change.
