Cargill Law collaborates globally to manage Cargill's legal affairs in partnership with the businesses. Paralegals are an integral part of our legal services team who partner with lawyers to provide cost effective legal services to the business units of the company.
Principal Accountabilities:
We are seeking an experienced paralegal to partner with lawyers and other legal team members on a wide variety of employment and labor matters, including litigation, discrimination charges, employee benefits, subpoena and grievance responses, unfair labor practice charges, RIFs, arbitrations, wage and hour issues, FMLA, OFCCP and internal complaints/investigations. In this position you will build strong working relationships with HR professionals and business unit managers be involved in employment and labor matters by providing legal services and education/training and recommending improvements to streamline processes. In addition you woule be performing legal research and employment related contract review; analyze results to provide practical solutions.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 2 years paralegal experience
Four-year college degree
Paralegal certificate; or comparable legal education from an accredited institution; or at least 2 years experience handling employment law matters and the willingness to obtain a paralegal certificate
Self-starter, ability to manage workflow with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
Willingness to adapt and be open to change in order to achieve desired results
Strong written and communication skills, including ability to handle sensitive matters with poise, tact and discretion
Preferred:
Experience handling employment law matters
