Plans contain limitations, exclusions and restrictions. http://www.assurantemployeebenefits.com/ The Disability Claims Analyst will be responsible for determining the direction of STD/LTD claims and analyzing a variety of criteria to determine eligibility of benefits. Also responsible for evaluating claimants degree of physical/mental limitation based on medical records and clinical review recommendations. Position requir! es heavy amount of correspondence with insureds, doctors, hosp! itals, attorneys and other individuals as required.
Manages assigned caseload of disability claims for Short Term and Long Term Disability.
Ensures claims integrity and compliance with established procedures, timing requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Develops plan to address disability obstacles and coordinates with claimants attending physicians, and employers to return people to work.
Monitors Social Security Determinations and other sources of income that coordinate with Long Term Disability Benefits. Can calculate, explain, and recover overpayments on disability claims.
Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction; resolves customer-impact issues, including customer specific and process issues;
Coordinates with Life Waiver team when benefits integrate
Qualifications Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Strong organizational, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills !
Thorough understanding of disability/life products policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities
Highly motivated and self-directed
Demonstrated interpersonal understanding and leadership ability
Two years' prior work experience in a related field preferred (disability/life/medical insurance; Workers' Compensation; Social Security Disability; customer service) with a record of consistently displaying the above-listed knowledge and skills.
