Responsibilities:
The Dean! will provide innovative administrative leadership to Winona State University's College of Science and Engineering (programs located on both the Winona and Rochester campus) and provides overall leadership for all faculty, staff, and students in the College. The Dean is responsible for curricular and instructional quality within the College as well as representing the College to internal and external constituencies. In addition, the Dean is responsible for academic leadership of all programs offering interdisciplinary secondary education majors, any related STEM initiatives, and will continue to build graduate programming within the College. The Dean of the College of Science and Engineering also sits on the Deans Council that assists the Provost in providing academic leadership to the University.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in one of the disciplines reflected in the College from a regionally accredited institution.
- At leas! t five years of successful experience in higher education, inc! luding both administrative (e.g., program director, department chair, associate dean) and full-time teaching.
- Strong demonstrated skills in leadership, budgeting, office management, resource management, and affirmative action practices in a collective bargaining environment.
- Ability to motivate and lead faculty, staff and students in pursuit of continually improving institutional quality; ability to foster an effective learning environment for students.
- A record of research and publication or other scholarly or creative achievements. Ability to judge scholarly activity by students and faculty.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of the various academic disciplines in the College of Science and Engineering.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the structure and interrelationships of science and engineering curriculum within the College of Science and Engineering and to departments outside of Colle! ge.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of corporate employers as related to program development, assessment and improvement.
- Ability to guide assessment needed by accrediting and licensing agencies, coordinate and administer accreditation self-study reports and campus site visits by external reviewers.
- Experience in securing and managing external grants and other sources of funding including contributions and donations.
- Demonstrated skills working in a culturally diverse setting; strong commitment to diversity.
- Ability to work with other academic administrators to guide the development of the university.
