Western National Insurance Group is looking for a detail-oriented claim adjuster to provide quality investigation and analysis to adjust first party No-Fault and Med-Pay ! claims to proper conclusion.
This role will investigate coverage eligibility by analyzing loss reports and auto policies to determine coverage availability for No-Fault or Med-Pay benefits; determines appropriate investigations; has 24-hour contact with insureds; and identifies and evaluates any sources of higher priority for coverage, pro-rata contribution, subrogation, or indemnity claims.
This person will also determine coverage exposure by verifying, analyzing and correctly applying appropriate coverage; documenting and gathering data, determining need for and providing direction for additional investigations and/or SIU involvement, corresponding promptly with insureds, their attorney and/or doctors, establishing accurate reserves.
Other important duties of this role are to determine eligibility of claims and pay within guidelines of each state's laws and Unfair Claims Practices Act; manage files by correlating medical treatment to injury to determine need f! or independent medical examination or additional investigation! ; provide appropriate documents/data to independent medical examiner; respond to requests from attorneys and/or claimant insurance carriers; evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims with insureds, claimants, or their attorney; and thoroughly summarize claim activity on files for arbitration. Adjusters experienced in arbitration will evaluate claims and make decisions regarding negotiating a settlement or assigning to defense counsel.
Job requirements include:
High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred; 2+ years No-Fault claims experience; thorough knowledge of Auto No-Fault and Med-Pay policies; knowledge and application of multi-state coverages, laws, and statutes; proven understanding of medical terminology; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Windows (i.e., Word, Excel, ImageRight, AS400, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer, etc.); possess excellent customer service skills; self-motivated and flexible with ability to work! independently and effectively inside and/or outside the office with minimal supervision; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills; demonstrated proficiency in problem solving, communication (oral & written), time management, and conflict resolution skills; demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills; accurate, strong attention to detail; ability to handle multiple priorities and carry out assignments to completion; ability to use good judgment and to be flexible/spontaneous; ability to maintain confidentiality; must be dependable and uphold a high level of loyalty, integrity, and ethics; must be able to work in a team environment; ability to interact with other departments; and ability to work additional hours to meet deadlines and/or complete projects
