To provide legal office support by preparing and maintaining documents for civil, criminal, juvenile, child protection, and general counsel cases. This posit! ion is responsible for maintaining files and processing reports and forms under daily timelines and constraints.
Primary Responsibilities

1. Prepares and processes from both dictation and written notes, various legal documents and forms including but not limited to: criminal complaints, juvenile petitions, civil commitments, briefs, discovery documents, correspondence, contracts and sexual psychopathic/dangerous personality statements.
2. Prepares correspondence and briefs from digital dictation for the District Court, Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court.
3. Establishes and maintains files for court cases, including opening files, photocopying, faxing, updating the case management system, and preparing discovery for service.
4. Maintains daily court and jury trial calendars for the offic! e and attorneys by documenting all notices, updating calendars! , filing and pulling orders, notices, and cases, notifying witnesses for hearing and trials, contacting courts for scheduling of hearings, and reviewing for judge designation.
5. Maintains the criminal, juvenile and civil case management system by creating forms and documents and entering data for statistics and billing.
6. Locates files for incoming mail and distributes while reviewing for court dates, requests for disclosure and follow-up on pending tasks for attorneys.
7. Obtains jury trial lists and screens jurors on the lists by researching information in office databases.
8. Processes supplemental reports from various law enforcement agencies and locates appropriate files for review by attorneys.
9. Assists with answering the telephone and assists the public with inquiries; notarizes various documents for court filings.
10. Reviews legal documents, files, and notices to prosecutors for completeness.
11. Interacts with various agencies assoc! iated with legal matters.
12. Receives and processes truancy documents such as attendance records, mediation agreements, and petitions through regular contact with school district and social workers.
13. Images case files, maintains the file room, and rotates records on a routine basis.
14. Attends work regularly and in a timely manner.
15. Performs others duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications and Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent and two years of post-secondary formal preparation/training/education in legal secretarial support or similar field OR high school graduate or equivalent and four years of progressively related experience in a legal setting. Must have experience using Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Must possess a typing speed of 70 words per minute.
Preferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications: ability to comply with Bur! eau of Criminal Apprehension security requirements and experience worki! ng with a Dictaphone or dictation equipment.

Salary and Hours of Work, Testing and Interview Dates:
Starting Salary
$16.1789 (Grade 12, Teamsters-General Unit).
Full Salary Range
$16.1789-$24.4303 (Grade 12, Teamsters-General Unit).
Hours of Work
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Test Date
Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Qualified candidates will be contacted with the testing information after review of applications.
Interview Date
