SCOPE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for overall plant employee safety including safety programs, systems, policies, training, Federal and State OSHA compliance and audits. This position is also! responsible for overall plant environmental programs, systems, policies, training, Federal and State EPA compliance and audits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure day-to-day administration of plant safety policies and procedures, Federal and State OSHA compliance, and compliance with other applicable regulations. • Ensure day-to-day administration of plant environmental policies and procedures, Federal and State EPA compliance, and compliance with other applicable regulations. • Organize, develop, implement, and give direction for pro-active safety and environmental programs, systems, policies, and training. • Lead and be a key resource for plant Safety Committees. • Lead and be a key resource for plant Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs. • Manage the plant’s Workers Compensation program, as appropriate. • Take ownership for personal growth a! nd development by soliciting feedback and getting involved in ! initiatives and projects. • Work closely with the Corporate Safety Director and the Corporate Environmental Director regarding plant safety and environmental issues and corporate programs. • Fully implement and maintain SQF 2000 Certified System requirements, including training verification, within area of responsibility. • Complete special projects, duties and assignments, as appropriate.

- Passion towards driving continuous improvement in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety. • Solid, current understanding of Federal and State OSHA and EPA compliance requirements and enforcement processes. • Demonstrated ability to develop and direct pro-active safety and environmental programs.
EXPERIENCE • A minimum of 7 years of increasing safety and environmental experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment, required. • Knowledge and practical application of risk-management techniques. • Experience leading continuous improvement projects and initiatives. • Experience working with a diverse group of people. • Professional experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferred. • Implementation experience with state air permits, storm water permits, and wast! e management systems, preferred. • Management oversight of biological! wastewater pretreatment systems and permit administration, preferred.
