The Tenth Judicial District seeks a Senior Court Clerk-Civil Division in Washington County Court Administration (Stillwater, MN! ).

DESCRIPTION: This is advanced court clerical work for the Civil Division of Washington County District Court in the Minnesota State Court System. Work will involve responsibility for work on major and minor Civil case types and may also involve work with Probate case types.

This position also provides high level customer service both in person and over the phone and requires the application of independent judgment and the interpretation of policies and procedures based on training and knowledge! gained through experience on the job. Advice and assistance w! ill normally be provided as needed by the Civil/Probate Supervisor, but most functions will be performed with a minimum of checking or other supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position performs the full scope of varied court clerical work involved in case processing manually, on Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), Electronic File and Serve (EFS) or other related computer systems; use of document imaging system; reviews legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with rules; determines processing requirements and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules and procedures; will schedule court hearings; determine proper routing of documents; initiation of new cases; processing of orders; sends notices to parties/attorneys; may issue subpoenas and similar processes; may certify and/or and authenticate documents; perform financial activities within the office; and calculate costs and amounts due for judgments. Responsibi! lities also include providing high level customer service to court customers over the phone and at the front counter and other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: (Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, abilities and skills listed. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is: )

Graduation from an approved high school or vocational school; experience as a court clerk or in the legal field is preferred. Bi-lingual or multi-lingual a plus.
  • Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to appointment.
  • Successful candidate will be required to serve a probationary period upon appointment.
