Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Pe! rforming Statutory Duties of County Attorney
Under Minnesota Statute Chapter § 388 Civil Advice
Serve as the legal advisor for the county board of commissioners, county officials, and county departments. Areas of advisment include: Land Use, Contract Review, Waste Management, Property Tax Values, Welfare Appeals, Environmental and Health Ordinances, and forfeited property in connection with criminal activity. Assisting with the county's purchase of property and defending against lawsuits will also be part of job duties.
Adult Prosecution
Prosecution of felony crimes which occur within Benton County.
Juvenile Prosecution
Prosecution of cases involving juvenile offenders.
Victim/Witness Assistance
Providing assistance and support to victims and witnesses who play vital roles in the criminal justice system.
Family Services
Initiating Child In Need of Protection or Services and protecting the health and safety of vuln! erable adults.
Minimum Training and Experience Req! uired:
License to practice law within the state of Minnesota and 7 years of experience of practicing law.
3 years of practicing law while in supervisory capacity is desired.
