JOB SUMMARY The Residential Care Tech/Certified Nursing Assistant (RCT/CNA) oversees the safety and comfort ! of the residents living at the Cottages.Delivers medication and observes proper technique for medical administration. The RCT/CNA encourages and facilitates the residents'self-care skills at the highest level possible. Facilitates periods of stimulation, relaxation, or socialization appropriate to the cognitive levelsof residents. Reassures and oversees awake residents during the night. Periodically checks sleeping residents and assists and performspersonal care. Complete housekeeping and laundry tasks. Prepares and serves meals and snacks. Maintains home in neat, orderly fashion.All employees are required to adhere to safe work practices and take active participation in the AWAIR (A Workplace Accident and InjuryReduction) Program as requested. All employees shall actively support and participate in the Quality Assurance Program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Verifiable satisfactory completion of a Nursing Assistant Program. Experience: N/A Licensure/Certification/Regis! tration: Certified Nursing Assistant on the Minnesota Departme! nt of Health Nursing Assistant Registry. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: N/A Experience: Previous experience working with cognitively impaired older person or persons at home or in institutional setting Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability toeffectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Itis an expectation that the RCT/CNA demonstrates and maintains working knowledge of principles, standards & techniques of providingresident care including assistance with: patient status, properly checks & records VS, HT, WT, O2 usage, assists residents with meetingnutritional & elimination needs, monitor nutritional and fluid intake, provide fresh water & fluids, toileting in bathroom or commode,diapering & incontinent care, bowe! l & bladder training, emptying commodes, assists residents with transfers during bathing, ambulationassist, assists patients with personal hygiene & grooming, properly bathes, provides skin, hair & nail care, oral hygiene, denture care,shaving, assist with dressing, assist with patient comfort and safety, orients patient to surroundings and assists with carry through ofpatient care plan as directed by professional nursing staff.
READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures. SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers,clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.Ab! ility to perform these operations using units of American money and wei! ght measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to operate a computer keyboard,mouse or telephone keypad.; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
