ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Investigates, analyzes, researches and recommends solutions to manufacturing-related problems and needs.
·
Researches and study advanced technology and manufacturing procedures for the development of proposals for automation, process flow improvements, mechanization, production methods, production throughput and improved product quality.
·
Prepare Investment Requests (I.R.) with necessary supportive data.
·
Monitors, coordinates and supervises I.R.-related activities including those of outside contractors, tool and machine builders, etc. to assure competent and timely completion of their commitments and the completion of the I.R. projects within budget and schedule requirements.
·
Represents Manufacturing Engineering functions at development and progress meetings for the purpose of improving, cost reducing and/or automating the manufacture of the product.
Represents Manufacturing.
·
Engineering in meetings and/or correspondence with plant visitors, sales representatives, and Corporate Engineering.
·
Works closely with other departments whose services are necessary to the conclusion of projects.
Prepares reports and presentations for management review regarding prioritization, feasibility and cost justification for proposed or active projects.
·
Maintains records and files pertinent to special and regular projects.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Supervises at group level, project personnel assigned to specific project assignments.
·
Supervises consultants, contractors, trades people, vendor representatives and plant personnel as required by each project.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
·
Requires a B.S. Degree or equivalent technical training and experience in a field relevant to manufacturing engineering.
·
Minimum of five to eight years’ experience in an engineering capacity in a related manufacturing environment.
·
Experience and/or training in the following areas are preferred:
-
Sheet metal processing and fabrication
-
CAD and pc skills
-
Machine design/automation
-
Building construction and design
-
Manufacturing process and materials
·
Academic strengths are required in mechanical design, mathematics, trigonometry, structural mechanics, electrical and electronics fundamentals.
·
Must have excellent communication and team skills.
Specific job duties that require the physical demands:
·
Ability to operate precise computer drafting equipment, identify and read detailed drawings and manuals.
·
Accurately read and identify fine precision measurement tools.
·
Ability to judge distance and color for safety and operational reasons and to accurately monitor processes.
