Job Description: Accessibility Developer
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Accessibility Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of web and mobile accessibility standards and best practices, as well as experience in developing accessible websites and applications. The candidate must also have a strong technical background, and experience with assistive technologies and tools.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and QA, to ensure that accessibility requirements are integrated throughout the development process
- Conduct accessibility testing and analysis on web and mobile applications to identify and address accessibility issues
- Develop and implement accessibility solutions and strategies to ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines and standards (e.g. WCAG 2.1)
- Provide guidance and support to development teams to ensure accessibility is considered in all aspects of the design and development process
- Develop and maintain accessibility documentation, including accessibility guidelines, policies, and training materials
- Keep up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards, tools, and techniques and incorporate them into development practices
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of web and mobile accessibility standards and best practices (e.g. WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508)
- Experience in developing accessible websites and applications
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and tools, such as screen readers and magnifiers
- Strong technical background, including experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development technologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to conduct accessibility testing and analysis using industry-standard tools
- Ability to provide guidance and support to development teams on accessibility best practices
- Experience in developing accessibility guidelines, policies, and training materials
- Understanding of the latest accessibility standards, tools, and techniques
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in web and mobile accessibility development and testing.
