For detail informations about this occupation opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. The Second Judicial District is accepting applications for a Senior Court Clerk. This is advanced court clerical work in the Civil Commitment Court office of the Civil Division. May be required to work in multiple locations within the Civil/Probate areas. Work involves the full scope of court clerical duties including manual and computerized case processing using EFS (eFile and Serve) and MNCIS (Minnesota Court Management System); reviewing legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with rules. Work may require the applic! ation of independent judgment and the interpretation of polici! es and procedures based on training and knowledge gained through experience on the job. Advice and assistance will normally be provided as needed by a Court Operations Supervisor, but most functions will be performed with a minimum of checking or other supervision. This is a fast paced work environment with time sensitive deadlines.

Responsibilities :
Performs the full scope of varied court clerical work involved in case processing in the Civil Commitment Court office utilizing EFS (eFile and Serve), MNCIS, Session Works, Microsoft Office and related computer systems; prepares court orders from civil commitment hearings based on judge's notes and information gathered during the hearing using MNCIS or other automated computer program; reviews legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with rules; determines processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules, Minnesota Commit! ment and Treatment Act and the Special Rules of Procedure governing civil commitments or refers the highly complex matters to a supervisor; determines proper routing of petitions, motions, and other filings; notifies interested parties; schedules hearings, issues summons, notices of hearing, and other documents, processes court orders and similar processes; computes applicable dates for service and return of service, and authenticates documents; May have daily contact with judges while working in the courtroom during court proceedings and in responding to their request for documents or other information; will also have daily contact with the general public, attorneys and representatives from outside agencies for the purpose of answering questions relative to court policies and procedures, providing referrals for further assistance, providing information on case status and court records, and giving assistance with the processing of applications and documents; and contact wit! h local law enforcement agencies and personnel for the purpose of excha! nging information on court cases and proceedings; creates computer generated notices, subpoenas, summons, commitments, affidavits, correspondence, court calendars, etc.; reviews for accuracy and completeness; secures required signatures; transportation orders, revocation orders, and apprehension orders, etc.; p erforms telephone and counter work; answers/responds to incoming phone calls; court, and public; responds to questions/inquiries regarding court procedures; manages court records; a ssures completeness and accuracy of records leaving the court jurisdiction pursuant to change of venue, appeal, and certification requirements; p erforms courtroom clerical duties; prepares case files and forms for court; checks people in and calls the calendar; sets court dates for next appearance; arranges and organizes the docket, notes continuances, makes minute and docket entries to reflect case progress; m ay participate in and coordinate the scheduling and calendaring of preliminar! y hearings, pre-trial conferences, continuances, trials and other matters; sends out notices; contacts attorneys and parties concerning rescheduling; makes appropriate record entries; r eview s MNCIS reports and implements appropriate corrective actions.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills : Knowledge of legal and medical terminology. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Very good computer skills, interest and adaptability to new technology Ability to read and understand legal documents of varying type and complexity. Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures. Ability and willingness to work in a high-volume, detailed and fast-paced work environment. Ability to take direction well and maintain a professional and positive attitude through challenging circumstances. Ability to manage competing demands simultaneously. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing! , as well as understand and follow oral and written instructions. Abili! ty to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, judicial officers and others.
Typical Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications :
Graduation from an approved high school or vocational school and two years of experience as a court clerk or in the legal field; Strong customer services skills with at least six months of customer service experience; Strong computer skills with the ability to learn computer programs without difficulty; Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems; Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying type and complexity; Must possess good independent judgment and have strong verbal and written communication skills; Must be very reliable, dependable, and accountable. Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check.
