Wells Fargo is seeking an attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience for a position supporting the credit card issuing and servicing businesses within the Consumer Financial Services and Retail Services lines of business, which are part of Wells Fargo Consumer Credit Solutions. Relevant experience in consumer credit, credit card and payment systems legal issues is required. Relevant experience is preferred in Truth in Lending and Regulation Z, including the CARD Act, co-brand card relationships, private label credit cards, credit card marketing reviews, UDAAP, third party relationships, FCRA, ECOA, fair lending, and familiarity with the roles of, and guidance issued by, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Responsibilities would include providing legal advice to the company in the areas o! f consumer credit and credit card, and payment systems with pa! rticular emphasis on federal, state and local statutes and regulations, including banking regulations. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills. Other responsibilities include conducting legal research projects, participating in due diligence investigations, and acting as advisor to operations personnel in interpreting regulations and policies. Strong organizational and diplomatic skills and ability to meet stringent deadlines are required. We offer a flexible location in our Charlotte, NC, Des Moines, IA, or Minneapolis, MN law offices. Provides substantive legal advice on matters for management of the Corporation and its principal subsidiaries to assist them in planning and policy setting. Represents the Corporation and its subsidiaries in court and in out-of-court negotiations and settlements of domestic or foreign legal issues ! of importance. Within respective area of responsibility or specialization, evaluates the impact of all major changes in the law and assesses the impact on the Corporation's policies and operating procedures. May take an active role in the education and training of less experienced counsel or paralegals. May be recognized, both within the Corporation and among the general legal profession, as an accomplished authority on legal matters.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years experience as a practicing attorney. Juris Doctorate. State Bar membership is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to provide research, counsel and guidance on complex legal questions or inquiries. Ability to analyze legal issues in substantive law in area of practice, provide effective advice to clients on routine legal matters. Strong verbal and written communications skills; interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; flexib! ility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
