Come help us make the health care system better for everyone, as you do your life's best work.(sm)The Optum Privacy Team seeks a Director, Privacy Incident Management & Remediation to help support its mission of being a trusted leader in privacy and HIPAA compliance, while serving to help make the health care system for everyone. The position focuses heavily on the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, in addition to general consumer privacy rules and state breach notification laws. The successful candidate should preferably be a licensed attorney or have experience with HIPAA, and must have a strong sense of consumer protection, be self-motivated, and possess critical-thinking and strong writing skills. Candidates should also have good judgment, the ability to analyze! issues in a clear fashion, and present their conclusions in a! clear and concise manner. Experience with broad range of privacy laws and regulations, including the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules is highly preferred. The position will report to the Optum Chief Privacy Officer and will work closely with the Optum Chief Privacy Counsel. In particular, this position will focus on the following: * Direct supervision of the Incident Management & Remediation Team members and processes;* Investigation of some attorney-client privileged privacy investigations including fact-gathering, analysis under HIPAA and state laws; preparing written analyses and conclusions; * Handling of regulatory inquiries, including interactions with the Office of Civil Right (OCR) enforcement offices, required reporting to HHS, and state attorneys general;* Ensuring meaningful metrics an analysis of trends and root causes;* Directing remediation efforts;* Providing input to Optum's strategic goals in the area of privacy management;* Conducting privacy risk assessm! ents;* Communicating key privacy messages to various parts of the Optum business;* Providing regular training to incident management staff and other investigatory partners within the enterprise;* Managing strategic projects;* Drafting policies, checklists and other guidance for our businesses; and* Staying abreast of industry best practices in the areas of incident management and breach prevention.
Requirements: - Bachelorââ¬â¢s degree required, post-graduate or law degree preferred.
÷ Experience coaching and mentoring staff required. Management experience preferred.
÷ 8+ yrs. of progressive legal or compliance experience. Incident management and/or privacy experience a plus.
- 3+ years of experience with HIPAA, state and international privacy laws.- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.- Superior analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
