Description
Manage the daily operations of Consumer Lending support functions. May include loan processing, servic! ing, asset recovery, collections, account reconciliation, and system development, maintenance, and reporting.
Monitor and implement department procedures for an efficient work environment. Report to management and other appropriate personnel regarding department activities
Monitors and reviews daily activities to ensure adherence to TCF’s guidelines and policies in loan approval, collections, servicing, and closing of loans.
Manage all daily activities of the department. Coordinate and set priorities to respond to needs of Consumer Lending departments in a timely fashion.
Assists in directing, implementing, coordinating, and analyzing operational procedures for Consumer Lending areas
Supervise multiple functions/departments within Consumer Lending, exercising the usual authority concerning staffing, performance appraisal, promotions, salary recommendations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Effectively communicat! es all policies and procedures to all staff within the process! ing, servicing area and branch lending offices.
Assists in the preparation of annual budget plans.
Effectively manage the department functions while meeting and adhering to corporate, legal, and regulatory policies, guidelines, and requirements regarding compliance. Work with the Compliance and Legal departments for overall updates, procedure changes or development, and resolution of issues.
Additional Responsibilities Specific to this Position:
Direct Collectors to pursue delinquent customers by mail or telephone to collect past due amounts & represents TCF in legal matters or in Conciliation Court. Advises Collectors on most appropriate actions to take on delinquencies.
Personally handles difficult collection situations involving delinquent customers using independent decision making to decide the appropriate action for collection. This position uses extensive report information to identify serious delinquencies & takes neces! sary action
Negotiates sale of properties, foreclosure actions, repossessions, mortgage foreclosures, etc. on behalf of Consumer Lending and TCF Finance Company. Position prepares various reports for Sr. Management identifying trends, collection performance & other pertinent information.
Prepares VISA delinquency reports, analysis of outside collection agency performance, directs agencies and attorney action for charged-off Capital Card Accounts and has the authority to direct settlements.
Responsible for providing all the necessary equipment and support services for Charge-offs and Consumer Lending Collections.
Position prepares monthly loss projections for review by Sr. Management including recoveries made during the month and is responsible for identifying problem areas which need addressing in anticipation of the next months reports.
Incumbent is responsible for producing new operating procedures for Consumer Lending Collecti! ons and TCF Finance Company Collections which will enhance the opportun! ity for recovery of delinquent monies, vehicles, other property, etc.
Qualifications
High School education or equivalent, with two or more years of college coursework in business/finance or related coursework; or equivalent work experience
2-4 years of experience in consumer lending, loan processing or operations.
Three years of supervisory experience.
Ability to plan, organize, and maintain accurate records and reports for management controls.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with subordinates, customers, senior management, and with other external organizations.
Intermediate level computer skills
Four or more year’s previous varied product collection experience. Knowledge of applicable laws.
Valid MN drivers license
Possess tact & diplomacy
Willingness to perform duties on an after hour basis.
Previous TCF National Bank Collection expe! rience
Preferred Qualifications
Four-year degree in finance or related field
Previous experience working in a loan processing or servicing area, with a preference for experience in consumer lending.
