Collections Manager

Location: Apple Valley, Minnesota

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the ! collection of delinquent loan accounts and staff. Divides work load among collection staff, monitors progress, and ensures that all loans in collection receive appropriate attention in a timely manner.
• Knows the legal aspects of collecting accounts including bankruptcy, repossession, deficiency, garnishment, collection agencies, foreclosures and judgments.
• Maintain systems to track collector efficiencies.
• Produce monthly delinquency reports for board and management.
• Ensure cost effective liquidation of all repossessed real property used as loan collateral.
• Leads organization activities to ensure loan assets quality. This includes training, loan officer counseling, delinquency and charge-off tracking per loan officer, branch, and product line.
• Maintains an accurate list of all accounts in collection including, but not limited to the aged delinquency report, skip tracing accounts, at collection agency or attorney, reposses! sions and bankrupt debtors.
• Is motivated to resolve c! ollection problems to the mutual benefit of member and credit union.
• Prepare and maintain department operating budgets, including review and approval of collection invoices.

Communications

• Ensure staff meetings are held on a regular basis.
• Act as participant while fulfilling committee roles and responsibilities.
• Respond to all member complaints within your area of responsibility.
• Lead and direct training initiatives that impact your areas of responsibilities.
• Builds a “team” atmosphere within the department.

• Complies with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/CIP (U.S. Patriot Act) procedures and policies.
• Provides members with courteous, friendly service, which exceeds their expectations while processing transactions promptly, efficiently and accurately.
• Follows Wings Financial CU’s “Standards of Professionalism” to! represent the credit union to members in a professional manner through written and verbal communications, attitude, business attire, work area, and thorough knowledge of our products and services.
• Meets individual quality service goals as identified in your performance action plan.
• Be an effective team leader through cooperation, flexibility, dependability, attendance, lack of tardiness and participation at meetings and training.
• Accurately applies technical job knowledge and skills to complete all work in a timely manner in accordance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements while managing varying degrees of work.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises two or more employees in the Collections Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, an! d directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining em! ployees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: College degree preferred. Equivalent work experience as demonstrated by increased levels of accountability, knowledge required. Minimum of 5 years of collection experience required.

• Demonstrate ability to lead, direct and motivate a diverse work force.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to establish and communicate measurable goals
• Complete knowledge of all legal aspects of collecting accounts, including bankruptcy, repossession, deficiency, garnishment foreclosures etc.
• Complete knowledge of home equity and consumer loan documents and processing of docume! nts.
