Title: Workers Compensation & Disability Administrator
Status: Part Time, 24 hours/week, work days and times flexible within business hours
Salary: $26.62/hour to $32.53/hour
Application deadline: 08/01/2012 The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation (www.wilder.org) is seeking an experienced Work Comp and Disability Administrator to administer the Foundation's workers compensation, disability management and safety programs, and provide day to day case management for workers compensation claims and disability management issues. Interface with employees, managers, third party administrators, medical personnel, attorneys and other Wilder staff regarding work comp claims, issues and return to work options. Review workplace accidents and injuries to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations. Provide case management for non-work related illnesses and injuries. Interpret policies and ensure compliance related to FMLA and ADA, and interface with employees, managers, medical personnel, legal counsel and other Wilder staff regarding medical management issues. Coordinate relationship and services with designated occupational health clinic. Administer the Foundation's short and long term disability benefit plans. Interface with insurance providers regarding claims, billing and administration, and monitor and manage the status of open disability claims. Develop policies and procedures related to workers compensation, disability management and safety programs, and develop/deliver related education and training to Foundation staff. Contribute to other HR activities and special projects as assigned, including but not limited to: planning and participation in health and wellness activities; coordinating/conducting ergonomic assessments; serving as a lead representative on the Foundation Safety Committee; responding to HR questions and issues in the absence of other staff.
A BA degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field, and at least 5 years of experience in workers compensation and disability management administration required. Strong work experience of at least 10 years may be exchanged for the BA requirement. Previous experience and/or certification in safety is preferred. Candidates must have strong working knowledge of federal and state laws related to workers compensation and disability management including FMLA, ADA, MN Parental Leave Act, and OSHA requirements; strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of employees; proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems; good facilitation skills and previous training experience; and basic knowledge of state/federal safety laws and requirements.
