SUMMARY

In conformance with basic and sound engineering principles, policies and controls, this position develops and implements solutions to Manufacturing Engineering projects and Manufacturing problems. Provides input to planning of future operations and products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate, analyze, organize, research, test and recommend solutions to engineering and production problems.
  • Investigate, analyze, research and recommend solutions to manufacturing related problems and needs.
  • Prepare Investment Requests (I.R.) with necessary supportive data.
  • Monitor, coordinate and supervise I.R. related activities including those of outside contractors, tool and machine builders, etc. to assure competent and timely completion of their commitments and the completion of the I.R. projects within budget and schedule requirements.
  • Research and study advanced technology and manufacturing procedure for the development of proposals for automation, process flow improvements, mechanization, production methods, production throughput and improved product quality.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management review regarding prioritization, feasibility and cost justification for proposed or active projects.
  • Work closely with other departments whose services are necessary to the conclusion of projects.
  • Maintain records and files pertinent to special and regular projects.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews; evaluate and approve drawings, routings, specifications and other documents.
  • Direct technicians, contractors, consultants, trades people vendor representatives, and plant personnel as required for each project.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering field
  • Demonstrated success working in a highly evolved Lean manufacturing environment
  • Experience with new product commercialization
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team environment across a matrix organization
  • Minimum 2 years experience in control systems integration & automation
  • Minimum of five to eight years’ experience in an engineering capacity in a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and/or training in the following areas are preferred:
  • Sheet metal processing and fabrication
  • CAD and PC skills
  • Machine design/automation
  • Building construction and design
  • Manufacturing process and materials
  • Must have excellent communication and team skills.

COMMENTS

Ability to operate precise computer drafting equipment, identify and read detailed drawings and manuals. Accurately read and identify fine precision measurement tools. Ability to judge distance and color for safety and operational reasons and to accurately monitor processes.
