The primary responsibilities of the Senior Copywriter are to produce marketing-focused Web copy for law firms and to lead special projects focused on driving continuous team improvement. Senior Copywriters must be able to effectively interview clients, have some knowledge of the legal market, and an understanding of search engine optimization (SEO). In addition, copywriters must work cross-functionally with search engine marketing consultants, designers, and project managers to produce effective Web sites and meet project deadlines. Senior Copywriters serve as trainers and mentors for new and existing employees. They also lead projects targeted at improving the content team and/or customer operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Production:
Write text for legal Web sites focused on the unique needs of FindLaw's FirmSite clients. Prepare for customer conference calls and interview attorneys to gather information that is relevant to their law firm's marketing strategy and their legal practice areas. Participate on conference calls to review content with clients and make revisions based on feedback received. Maintain a working knowledge of general marketing strategies, search engine marketing principles, and areas of legal practice. Develop and maintain an understanding of FindLaw business systems, including software used to ensure efficient delivery and tracking of incoming and completed content drafts. Work on FindLaw's international clients' websites. Understand and adhere to Content best practices.
Projects:
Work with the Content team to develop, understand and provide input on best practices or other projects as needed for Web site content. Identify opportunities and help implement solutions for process improvements, including cross-functional Projects focused on continuous team improvement. Test new business system functionality. Lead or represent Content team on cross-functional committees/initiatives. Manage special projects as requested. May be required to travel a few times per year on client visits.
Coaching/Mentoring:
Provide mentoring and training to writers in content strategies, FindLaw best practices, search engine marketing principles, areas of legal practice and FindLaw business systems. Coordinate, manage and provide on boarding of new team members and maintain process and training documentation. Use performance metrics to work with writers to refine their writing and performance. Provide backup to team lead as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required (English/Communications/Journalism degree preferred), Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
Experience:
2 years of professional writing experience in marketing, communications, or similar field. Significant internet copywriting experience preferred.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of legal terminology a plus. Knowledge of basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) standards. Familiarity with AP style strongly preferred.
Skills:
Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability to write successfully for the Web. Strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong oral communication and interviewing skills. Ability to mentor people and lead projects in a creative, high volume production environment. Ability to resolve challenging client issues successfully. Proven ability to write creatively in a high volume production environment. Work well in a team environment, embrace change and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Proven ability to meet or beat deadlines. Strong relationship building skills. Ability to think critically and identify and execute on process improvement opportunities.
