Position Description

The purpose of this position is to assist attorneys in providing legal services and advice to all company functions on a defined array of legal issues.
Position Responsibilities

Coordinates legal team response to specified types of incoming contract and approval requests. This involves working with the business client to obtain the information necessary for a meaningful response, providing the requested contract implementation advice or, depending on the complexity of ! the issue, working with the attorneys to provide it.

! Drafts and negotiates contracts and other legal documents. This includes the preparation of numerous standard and non-standard agreements, and involves direct client contact to obtain needed information, keep clients updated on status of agreements, etc. This also involves direct interaction with contracting third parties, including contract term negotiation.

Identifies and escalates unique or new issues and risks to supervising attorney and/or Legal Department management for direction and/or handling.

Maintains effective system for contract management and approval and works with the rest of the legal team to identify and implement process improvements.

Manages the flow of requests for agreements from business clients and their assignment to Commercial Law staff.

Manages the flow of inquiries made by business clients regarding contract status consistent with appropriate guidelines and deadlines.
Acts as a liaison among various interna! l departments as well as with external parties for the applicable function(s).

Review legal documents for conformity with Medtronic policies.

Performs special assignments or projects, under supervision of attorneys, such as identifying and organizing specific information, researching and gathering information, summarizing data and findings and reviewing internal records.

! Assists in the identification, development and presentation of training! materials on relevant laws and on legal, business and compliance issues.

Focuses on customer excellence by managing ongoing dialogue with clients regarding their expectations.

Inspires trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
BA/BS Degree

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
8+ years of contracting experience (drafting, negotiating, contract management)
Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Legal experience in a corporate setting
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ! establish priorities
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Decision making ability
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook; Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills and confidence in group presentations
Pharmaceutical or medical device clinical or regulatory experience preferred
Paralegal Certificate preferred, but, not required
