Senior Commercial Credit Analyst
This position is responsible for underwriting and reviewing commercial loans to promote ! positive member relationships and to achieve the lending goals of the Credit Union. The Credit Analyst must provide consistent practices in accordance with Business Loan policies that maintain a prudent commercial loan portfolio. The position is also responsible for general department support and assisting with a variety of other department projects.
âHOW WILL I BE CHALLENGED?â
Underwrite commercial loans for extensions of credit review existing loans and maintain a prudent portfolio to achieve business lending goals.
Review and evaluate business loan applications, analyze financial statements and interpret key ratios and the member's ability to pay using a global cash flow approach to determine the needs of the member.
Underwrite business loans and complete loan presentations/annual reviews for approval by the VP of Business Services.
Facilitate loan closings by providing research and direction for attorney handling.
Review loan documents; perform loan closings, and service bu! siness loans and accounts.
Ensure member service standards are maintained.
Analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports provided by each borrower to ensure loan quality and strengthen business relationships.
Review each loan annually and respond to loans rated substandard.
Schedule and document annual business site visits and relationship reviews.
Assist Vice President to develop and maintain portfolio through monitoring reports and procedures to meet department performance expectations.
Provide input on month end portfolio reports, delinquency reports, and loan loss analysis.
Review and refine reports, presentation templates and other business service processes to increase operational efficiency.
Streamline the current lending system to create a prudent, streamlined lending system that accurately assesses risk, works effectively and maintains compliance with all NCUA rules and regulations.
Recommend changes to refine written lending procedures for all aspects of the business department.
Review and find solutions to streamline business loans in the Episys and Laser Pro systems.
Review file documentation and file logging procedures, verifying that loan documents are appropriate for the loan type.
Assist Vice President to ensure MBL program meets and maintains compliance with all NCUA rules and regulations.
Design, create and build a new underwriting system using excel and access.
Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operations.
Record, post, and perform recasts on member business loan payments.
Provide payment notifications on required loans.
Provide support through answering member questions on deposit and loan products, business documentation and compliance.
Create accounts and loans on operating system and prepare Laser Pro loan documents.
Open Business Accounts.
"HOW CAN I BE CONSIDERED?"
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Experience
Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
Education
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Interpersonal Skills
Knowledge of all Credit Union consumer and commercial products, services, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the financial industry and related products in order to discuss them confidentially with members.
Knowledge and understanding of commercial loan pipeline.
Knowledge of SBA and other guaranteed loan programs related to small businesses.
Knowledge of Excel macro and template creation and maintenance.
Skill in analyzing financial statement and global cash f! lows to determine potential solutions with previous experience using Baker Hill software or similar product.
Skill in underwriting loans using a global cash flow approach.
Ability to coordinate priorities, meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to use clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to make decisions and resolve problems efficiently to provide service to our members.
Ability to develop professional relationships with members and to build cooperative teams with co workers.
Ability to problem solve and to make decisions, and to exercise judgment in extending credit.
Ability to organize multiple tasks and to maintain a courteous demeanor in a busy, high stress work environment.
Ability to employ advanced interpersonal techniques (advising, confronting, resolving conflicts).
Ability to recognize and troubleshoot system problems and inefficienc! ies.
